Vita Tambone

MPH, RDN, CDN, CDCES

I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. Since the beginning of my career, I’ve helped children and adults meet their health and nutrition goals. I have a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health where I focused on social and behavioral sciences, obesity prevention, and the harms of weight stigma. Prior to that, I completed my dietetic internship through Montclair State University where I received the Joan D. Bernstein Clinical Excellence Award.

My approach to nutrition and lifestyle change for health, wellness, and disease management is rooted in realistic, research-backed recommendations to help you feel healthier and more confident in achieving long-lasting results.

My clinical experience was honed while working outpatient alongside adult and pediatric primary care providers and specialists. I was the go-to dietitian and educator for every nutrition-related concern from weight management to GI conditions to eating disorders and everything in between. I spent extensive time in the endocrinology department helping clients with diabetes and blood sugar management, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and other hormone-related concerns. Later, I led the development and implementation of the city’s Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) program at the NYC Health Department.

I saw that many people were struggling to find a healthier way of eating that really felt sustainable. Too often, clients struggled with overeating after trying to incorporate well-meaning but overly restrictive habits into their lives, leading to frustrating and seemingly never-ending yo-yo dieting. Through a combination of clinical savvy and a trauma-informed, non-judgemental approach to nutrition counseling I began to work more closely with clients who want a healthier relationship with food and those struggling with eating disorders. Back in 2019, I began additional eating disorder treatment supervision with Laura, an iadep® Certified ED Specialist and Consultant, and continue to support clients with eating disorder presentations including binge eating, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and other unspecified eating disorders.

In my spare time, I am a runner and four-time marathon finisher. I enjoy travel, theater, weight lifting, yoga, and spending time with my dog, Bailey.
